Mission Statement of the Department [AIM]:

To provide highest possible, quality-assured testing & reports to be delivered within standard time frame, while maintaining strict confidentiality.

Ongoing Research Projects:

• Viral Diagnostic Laboratory: UP State Government has selected and funded our Department for establishing a "Viral Diagnostic Laboratory" at GSVM Medical College, Kanpur. In this lab, we perform Real-Time PCR for Swine Flu, COVID-19 RT-PCR testing, and other viral infections.
• TB Culture & DST Facilities: TB Culture and Drug Sensitivity Testing (DST) facilities for first-line anti-TB drugs (Streptomycin, Isoniazid, Rifampicin, and Ethambutol) and LPA Lab BSL-3 Lab is under process for handover to the Microbiology Department.
• State Reference Laboratory & ICTC: Funded by the National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) Lucknow in the Department of Microbiology. Under Lab Direction, the HIV Testing Laboratory received NABL Accreditation on 20/06/2022.
• AMR Containment Programme: Under the National Programme on AMR Containment, our department is the FIRST site in U.P. where Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance of priority pathogens in clinical samples has been running since 2015.

Department Of Pharmacology

Mission Statement of the Department:

• Acquiring new knowledge in pharmacology and related basic sciences.
• Creation of knowledge related to drugs by conducting research.
• Rational prescription of drugs — right drug to right patient in right dose in a cost-effective manner.
• Transmission of knowledge to medical students in a manner to make them Indian Medical Graduates.
• Adverse Drug Reaction monitoring and reporting.

Our mission is to produce the competent physician capable of providing medico-legal services without infringing medical ethics and principles, and to also provide the comprehensive medico-legal services to the community through innovative programmes.

Department Of Pulmonary Medicine

Department Of PMR - PMSSY

Introduction & About Department:

The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) was established in July 2021 under the supervision of Dr. Manish Singh, Head of Neuroscience Department (Neurosurgery and Allied).

This department is the 5th PMR department to be established in Uttar Pradesh, next to KGMU, SGPGI, AIIMS (Raebareli, Gorakhpur) and RMLIMS Lucknow.

In a very short time, this department has been established as a quality care center of rehabilitation for various musculoskeletal ailments such as:

• Rotator cuff tear
• ACL tear
• Rheumatoid arthritis
• Ankylosing spondylitis
• Urate arthropathies
• Peripheral neuropathies

For Disability Certificates, this is the only center in Kanpur and nearby surrounding areas where it is available. This department is committed to providing comprehensive care to patients suffering from all musculoskeletal conditions of the body.

The PMR department runs 6 days a week. This department has 30 beds along with one isolation room and 2 short procedure rooms. About 10,000 patients visit the outdoor department annually and 300 are admitted each year.

Future Plan:

At present, the PMR department is dealing with patients who need basic rehabilitation and treatment followed by both short-term and long-term care. In the future, it is planned to start:

• Gait training lab
• Robotic setup
• Special clinics for spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, arthritis and musculoskeletal disorders, obesity, etc.
